Grass Beyond the Mountains - the Cariboo, BC 2006
These few images were taken in the Cariboo region of British Columbia in July,2006. A visit with Chris Harris, professional photographer and naturalist, at his gallery at 105 Mile Ranch (reference to the distance along the original Cariboo Trail formed during the Cariboo goldrush), led us to explore some grassland regions of the Cariboo that we might have otherwise missed had we not had the opportunity to meet with him. Just hearing the names of some of the special spots including Canoe Creek, Gang Ranch and Dog Creek, along the Fraser River Canyon, conjure up some definite images in the mind! Some of these images are shown here.

"Grass Beyond the Mountains" is a title of a book by Richmond P. Hobson Jr., a failed NY stockbroker, who went on to found an 8 million acre ranch in the Chilcotin region just north of the Cariboo.
