  • Tapioca is a key economic crop in Thailand, which is the third largest producer in the world after Brazil and Nigeria.  Thailand is the world's largest exporter of the many products from the tapioca plant.
  • Boat landing on the River Kwai where we boarded long-tail boats which would take us near our destination of Hell Fire Pass.

  • Approximately 80km from Kanchanaburi is Hellfire Pass where many lives were lost during the World War II construction of one of the most difficult sections of the River Kwai Railway - the Death Railway. <br />

To lay track here, Allied POW's and Asian conscripts carved through over 325 feet of solid rock almost entirely by hand.<br />

The Burma-Thailand Railroad Memorial Trail pays tribute to the many prisoners who died in the excavation.
